Sweet Charity
If you enjoyed the performances of Chicago in 2007 your hearts will skip
a beat when CQ University’s Bachelor of Performing Arts students present
their foot-tapping, all-singing and all dancing production of the Tony Award-winning
musical Sweet Charity at Rockhampton's Pilbeam Theatre in October.
Professional industry mentors Wayne Scott Kermond and Katie Kermond once again
join with the student company to stage this popular story of Dance Hall Hostess,
eternal optimist, and unlucky romantic, Charity Hope Valentine (played by Jenna
Saini), as she searches for true love.
Sweet Charity is renowned for its snappy Neil Simon dialogue and dynamic choreography
to the show’s ‘huge’ musical numbers - “Big Spender,” “Rhythm
of Life,” and “If They Could See Me Now.”

deep blue
deep blue – the orchestra unleashed
deep blue are the mavericks of orchestral music. Their cheekiness is infectious.
There’s no conductor, no music stands and no stuffy outdated rules.
They truly engage with their audience, smiling, dancing, and moving around
the stage.
They even adjust their repertoire according to the SMS suggestions sent by
the audience during the show! The performance is fun, movingly powerful and
exciting and is an enjoyable experience for the entire family.
The repertoire ranges from the depths of Mahler, to evocative film music,
to rock and pop classics such as The Beatles, the Stones and Muse. Composers
from
all around the world are also writing specifically for deep blue.
The group has sold out Theatres in capitals cities and is about to embark
on a national tour of Australia beginning at the Sydney State Theatre on
September
25th, and coming to Rockhampton on October 12.
DEEP BLUE according to recent audiences:
“The only orchestra we’ve seen that is actually FUN!
It made us feel young again. We wish we’d taken our teenage kids!”
“
It’s hard to describe….you gotta check those guys out for yourself…..they’re
just AWESOME!
“
Deep Blue is to orchestras what my iPhone is to my landline – a lot more
colourful and totally addictive.”
“
If you go to the movies regularly: don’t when Deep Blue is in town. Go
to Deep Blue instead”.

Heath Franklin’s Chopper in Make Deadsh*ts History

After 2008’s record sell-out success, Harden the F**k Up Australia,
Heath Franklin's Chopper (Network 10’s The Ronnie Johns Half Hour) is
back, head-butting his way across the country, tackling an issue bigger than
world poverty or global warming - eradicating the
terminally stupid.
In a world that is designed to protect people from their own stupidity, Chopper
is worried that natural selection isn't getting a fair go. Finally there’s
a cause we can all get behind, and a celebrity who has the moustache to pull
it off.
Contains adult themes and coarse language. Mature audiences only.

The Rockhampton Musical Union Choir presents
The Wizard of Oz
By Arrangement with Tams Witmark Music Library Inc

Dorothy Gale of Kansas, like so many girls her age, dreams of what lies ‘
Over The Rainbow’. One day a twister hits her home town and carries her
away ….It is an undisputed fact that the Wizard of Oz is and will always
be one of the greatest musicals for pleasing an audience. The story by L. Frank
Baum
was inspired by Grimm’s Fairy Tales. The Songs, with music by Harold
Arlen, lyrics by E. Y Harburg and background music by Herbert Stothart are:
Over The Rainbow
Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead
Follow The Yellow Brick Road
If I Only Had A Brain
We’re Off To See The Wizard
The stage production uses much of the aura of the 1939 motion picture starring
Judy Garland on which the show is based. It is an adaptation for live stage
performance even while it strives to look and sound just like the famous film
in telling the story.
Starring in the Role of Dorothy will be Elle-Lace Ambrose,
The Scarecrow - Jakob Ambrose, The TinMan - Levi Burrows, The Lion - Riley
Griffin, and with a special appearance by WIN Television's Paul Taylor as
The Wizard.
Adult $35.50, P/S/U, $28.50, Child $25.00
Book by L Frank Baum
Music and Lyrics by Harold Arlen and EY Harburg
Background music by Herbert Stothart
Adapted by John Kane for teh Royal Shakespeare Company from the classic motion picture screenplay.
